Sessions
Jam sessions, or simply "sessions", are a very popular place for musicians who play Irish music. Sessions give musicians the opportunity to meet, play together, and learn from each other. Sessions are, by nature, socio-musical events rather than concerts given by musicians for a separate audience.
This year, Reel Space is only hosting a slow session. These sessions take place take place on Wednesdays in Casa de Asturias, c / Luz Casanova, 13. Our first session for the school year 2009 -2010 will take place on Wednesday, September 30th and will run weekly through June, 2010 from 8:00 - 9:30pm.
What is a slow session?
The slow session is a place where beginners can come learn how to play with other musicians in public. It is different from a traditional session in several ways:
Slow sessions allow beginning Irish musicians to play and enjoy their limited repertoire while, at the same time, getting familiar with the melodies of new tunes. It's a fun, educational training to getting ready to play in traditional sessions with more advanced musicians.
Please note that sessions are great places to learn new tunes, however, we ask all the musicians that come and play, if you don't know the tune, just listen, or, at most, play softly until you get it, so you don't disturb the other musicians.

Our professional band
The Turloughs, our group, exists to satisfy the demand for live Irish music throughout the province of Valencia (and beyond). It also serves to promote our school and stimulate interest in Irish music in other musicians and in the general public. Participation in the band is by invitation only and completely at the discretion of the school's teachers. Contact us here if you want to hire us to play for you.

- We play the tunes slowly
- We play each tune more times than in a traditional session
- We learn to coordinate with other musicians in a live playing situation
