What is TAKADIMI?

TAKADIMI is a method of vocal percussion adapted from the konnakol system of vocal percussion from south India. It is a serious of syllables that correspond to different rhythmic patterns found in all styles of music. It's a way to sing rhythms before you play them on an instrument or dance them with your body.

Why should I start studying TAKADIMI?

If you are thinking about getting started playing any instrument in any style of music, or dancing, the first and most important thing you need to do is be able to express various rhythms and accents within those rhythms. TAKADIMI gives you that rhythmic freedom and power.

What if I don't sing well?

We say the TAKADIMI syllables instead of sing them with any particular melody. Therefore it doesn't matter how well you sing, you'll still get the rhythm power of TAKADIMI.
